Is GTA 6 Banned in Any Country? The 'Eight Countries' List, Fact-Checked

Where the 'banned' list came from
Confirmed: the FAQ on PlayStation's GTA 6 page describes who can claim the free month of GTA+ with a digital pre-order. Its eligibility line lists all PlayStation country stores except eight.
Reported (GTA BOOM): someone read that list, saw Gulf countries on a "GTA 6 exclusion list," and the "banned" headline spread. GTA BOOM points out that the heading above the line is about the pre-order bonus, not the game.

Analysis: "not on the PlayStation Store" isn't the same as an official ban. It can mean a rating hasn't been issued, or a store hasn't opened sales yet. GTA BOOM notes regulators in the region can rule late.
Where GTA 6 is rated adults-only
Confirmed: GTA 6 is rated ESRB M and PEGI 18. See our age rating guide.
Reported: Australia has rated it R18+ (Twisted Voxel), New Zealand R18 (6Charts) and South Korea 19+ (TechM).
Analysis: an adults-only rating restricts who can buy it. It doesn't stop the game launching. If you're under the age limit where you live, retailers and storefronts may refuse the sale.
What to do if you're in an excluded store
Analysis:
- Search your own PlayStation Store for Grand Theft Auto VI. If there's a buy button, you can buy the game.
- Don't count on the free GTA+ month in any of the eight excluded stores.
