How to pre-order GTA 6

Confirmed: Pre-ordering Grand Theft Auto VI takes three choices: where to buy, which edition, and digital or physical. Pre-orders opened on June 25, 2026 at midnight local time, and the game launches November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S (there is no PC version — see our GTA 6 PC release date guide).

The fastest route:

  1. Go to the Rockstar Games Store, the PlayStation Store, the Microsoft/Xbox Store, or a retailer such as Amazon or GameStop.
  2. Choose the Standard Edition ($79.99) or the Ultimate Edition ($99.99).
  3. Pick digital (a pre-load download) or physical (a code-in-a-box — details below).
  4. Complete the order before November 20, 2026 to guarantee the free Vintage Vice City Pack.

Current status

  • Current status: Pre-orders open and live on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S — confirmed.
  • Last verified: June 30, 2026.
  • Official sources checked: Rockstar Games Newswire (pre-order announcement), Take-Two Interactive press release, Rockstar Support pre-order article.
  • What is confirmed: Two editions ($79.99 / $99.99), the Vintage Vice City Pack for orders before November 20, a free month of GTA+ for digital pre-orders, pre-loading from November 12, and a November 19, 2026 release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
  • What is not confirmed yet: Any PC pre-order, a GTA 6 Online release, or whether physical stock will be constrained at launch.

Where to pre-order GTA 6

Confirmed: Rockstar lists the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Rockstar Games Store, and global retailers and storefronts — including Amazon, GameStop, Fnac, and Micromania, depending on your country. All of them sell the same game and the same pre-order bonus, so the choice comes down to where you want it to live and which perks you care about.

Where to buyEditionsFormatNotable perk
Rockstar Games StoreStandard & UltimateDigitalBuy direct from Rockstar; GTA+ month on digital
PlayStation StoreStandard & UltimateDigitalAuto-installs to your PS5; GTA+ month
Microsoft / Xbox StoreStandard & UltimateDigitalAuto-installs to Xbox Series X|S; GTA+ month
Amazon / GameStop / retailersStandard & UltimatePhysical (code-in-a-box)A boxed collectible; gift-friendly

Analysis: there is no meaningful gameplay difference between storefronts. Buy digital from the console store tied to the system you'll actually play on (PS5 or Xbox) for the simplest experience, or buy physical from a retailer if you want something on the shelf or as a gift.

GTA 6 editions and price

Confirmed: there are two editions, both on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S:

EditionPrice (USD)What you get
Standard Edition$79.99The full single-player game and story.
Ultimate Edition$99.99Everything in Standard plus an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and extra action threaded across Jason and Lucia's story.

Both editions include the same campaign — the Ultimate Edition adds bonus content, not a gameplay advantage. For a full breakdown of exactly what the Ultimate tier includes and whether it's worth the extra $20, see our Standard vs Ultimate Edition guide. You can also browse the base-game vehicles and weapons the Ultimate extras sit on top of.

Confirmed: Rockstar has said Standard owners can buy the Ultimate Edition Upgrade separately later, so you're not locked in at pre-order.

The GTA 6 pre-order bonus: Vintage Vice City Pack

Confirmed: every pre-order — and any purchase made before November 20, 2026 — includes the free Vintage Vice City Pack, described by Rockstar as "a collection of items that flash back to when the neon burned brightest." It is not exclusive to the pricier Ultimate Edition; Standard buyers get it too, as long as they order before the cutoff.

The key thing to understand: the bonus is tied to buying early, not to spending more. So the only real reason to pre-order rather than wait until launch day is to lock in this pack before the November 20 window closes. After that date, the Vintage Vice City Pack is no longer guaranteed.

Meet the characters — Jason and Lucia — the pack ties back to, and see where the neon burns in our map and setting guide.

Digital vs physical: which GTA 6 pre-order should you pick?

This is the choice most buyers get wrong, so here's the breakdown.

Confirmed: Digital pre-orders include a free month of GTA+, which Rockstar calls "the best way to get the most out of the ever-evolving world of GTA Online." Digital copies also pre-load from November 12, 2026, so the game is installed and ready to launch at midnight on the 19th.

Reported: the physical edition is a "code-in-a-box," not a disc. Multiple outlets (including Push Square) report the boxed version contains a download code rather than a playable disc — meaning a physical copy still installs the full game digitally. Treat the no-disc detail as reported until you see it on your specific retailer's listing.

DigitalPhysical
Free month of GTA+✅ Yes (confirmed)❌ Not included
Pre-loads before launch✅ From Nov 12Code redeemed, then downloads
A disc to keep / resell❌ No❌ No disc — it's a code (reported)
Gift-friendly / collectibleHarder to gift✅ A physical box

Analysis: for most players, digital is the better pick — you get the GTA+ month, it auto-installs, and it pre-loads. Choose physical only if you specifically want a boxed item or are buying it as a gift.

Watch out: the GTA+ free month auto-renews

Reported: this is the one trap in the whole pre-order, and competing guides rarely flag it. The free month of GTA+ that comes with a digital pre-order auto-renews into a paid subscription once you activate it. Push Square reports the subscription renews at $7.99 / £6.99 / €7.99 per month unless you cancel before the free month ends.

How to claim the perk without getting charged:

  1. Don't redeem the GTA+ code until you're ready to manage the subscription. (Push Square notes the code can be redeemed up to March 31, 2027 — Reported.)
  2. After redeeming, immediately turn off auto-renew in your platform's subscription settings (PS Store Subscriptions, or the equivalent on Xbox/Rockstar).
  3. Enjoy the free month; you'll keep it for 30 days and simply won't be charged afterward.

Analysis: the free GTA+ month is genuinely worth having — just set a reminder to cancel auto-renew the day you redeem it. Note that GTA+ is built around GTA Online, which is not part of GTA 6's launch (the game ships single-player only), so the perk is most useful to existing GTA Online players today.

Is pre-ordering GTA 6 worth it?

Analysis: here's the honest answer most "where to pre-order" pages skip.

For digital buyers: there is no scarcity — a digital copy can't sell out. The only thing a pre-order locks in is the Vintage Vice City Pack (and, on digital, the GTA+ month). If you already know you're buying GTA 6, pre-ordering digitally before November 20 is a no-brainer: same price, free bonus, pre-loaded and ready. If you're undecided, you can safely wait — you lose nothing but the bonus pack.

For physical buyers: demand is enormous, and boxed copies are a different story. If you want a physical edition (or are giving one as a gift), pre-ordering earlier is the safer bet, since boxed stock and any collector runs can be constrained around a launch this big.

Best answer for most players: pre-order the Standard Edition digitally before November 20 to lock in the free pack, turn off GTA+ auto-renew the moment you redeem it, and upgrade to Ultimate later only if you decide you want the extras. If you're a collector or buying a gift, choose physical and order early.

Official vs reported vs rumor

Because pre-order season attracts a lot of noise, here's where each claim stands:

What Rockstar / Take-Two have officially confirmed

  • The Vintage Vice City Pack is free on all purchases before November 20, 2026.
  • Digital pre-orders include a free month of GTA+; pre-loading begins November 12, 2026.

What is reported but not officially detailed

  • The GTA+ auto-renew price ($7.99/£6.99/€7.99) and the March 31, 2027 code-redemption deadline.

What fans are speculating about

What we are not treating as confirmed

  • Any PC pre-order, a GTA 6 Online date, or exact stock numbers. None of that has been confirmed by Rockstar.
