Current status

  • Current status: Rated in the U.S., Europe, Australia, New Zealand and other regions.
  • Last verified: October 15, 2026.
  • Official sources checked: ESRB: Grand Theft Auto VI.
  • What is confirmed: ESRB M with seven content descriptors and In-Game Purchases, on PS5 and Xbox Series.
  • What is not confirmed yet: the full PEGI breakdown. A detailed page appeared and was then pulled.

Ratings by region

RegionRatingStatus
U.S./Canada (ESRB)M — Mature 17+Confirmed — ESRB
Europe (PEGI)18 (Violence, Sex, Drugs, In-Game Purchases)Reported — storefront listings, some "provisional"
AustraliaR18+ ("High impact violence, sex scenes and drug use")Reported — classification record via GTAVice
New ZealandR18Reported — via GTAVice
Singapore (IARC)18+Reported — via GTAVice
Saudi Arabia21Reported — via GTAVice

The ESRB listing covers PS5 and Xbox Series only. There's no PC rating, which fits with no PC version being announced.

What the descriptors mean

Confirmed descriptors (ESRB) and what they usually cover:

  • Blood and Gore / Intense Violence: realistic shootings, injuries and killings.
  • Nudity / Strong Sexual Content: sexual scenes and nudity. Push Square reported on the detailed PEGI notes.
  • Use of Drugs and Alcohol: characters using drugs and drinking.
  • Strong Language / Mature Humor: frequent profanity and crude jokes.
  • In-Game Purchases: the game offers optional paid items.

Reported (removed PEGI page): an October 2 PEGI page listed more detail before it came down. It mentioned graphic violence including dismemberment, drug use, sexual content and discriminatory language in in-game TV and radio (GTAVice, Push Square). Because the page was pulled, treat these details as Reported, not final.

What parents should know

Analysis:

  • It's an adult game. Every major rating body rates it 17+ or 18+.
  • Parental controls: PS5 and Xbox family settings can block games by age rating. The PlayStation Family app manages this on PlayStation.
  • No gambling descriptor: GTAVice notes none of the ratings flag gambling. That suggests no real-money-style casino, but Rockstar hasn't confirmed anything about casino content.
  • Single-player is offline-capable. GTA Online for GTA 6 hasn't been dated.
