- Last verified: October 26, 2026.

The rules in brief
Reported (Dexerto):
| Graphic gaming violence appears | Monetization |
|---|---|
| First 7 seconds | Not ad-eligible |
| After the 7-second mark (including 8–15 seconds) | Ad-eligible |
| Obscured or blurred | Can earn revenue |
Reported (Dexerto): mild violence, minimal blood or unrealistic action is generally fine for advertisers.
Reported (Dexerto): gaming content featuring recreational drug use, sale or promotion is now ad-eligible.
What still gets demonetized
Reported (Dexerto): videos made mainly to shock, such as compilations of players killing groups of NPCs, can be fully demonetized. Ads can also be denied for gameplay showing sexual violence, graphic torture, hate-motivated attacks, violence against minors, or attacks on real, named people.
Reported (Dexerto): separately, since November 2025 YouTube has age-restricted some gaming content with realistic characters and scenes focused on torture or mass violence against civilians.
Analysis: the safest approach is to keep graphic moments out of the first seven seconds and out of thumbnails. See GTA 6 launch spoiler guide too.
