Current status

  • Current status: Announced on stream (the clip was shared on October 15). No dates or schedule announced.
  • Last verified: October 19, 2026.
  • Sources checked: NDTV Sports (with the clip), GTA BOOM, win.gg.
  • What is confirmed (from the clip): the five-game list and his quotes.
  • What is not confirmed yet: start dates, whether he'll finish all five before November 19, and how long the GTA 6 stream will run.

The five-game list

Reported (NDTV Sports): "Here is the list of GTAs that we are going to play... GTA 3. Vice City. San Andreas. GTA 4. And GTA 5."

GameOriginal releaseTies to GTA 6
GTA 32001First 3D GTA (Liberty City)
GTA: Vice City2002The original Vice City. GTA 6 returns to a modern version
GTA: San Andreas2004State-wide map, a model for Leonida's scale
GTA 42008First HD-era GTA (RAGE engine)
GTA 52013Multiple protagonists and character switching

The release years are well documented series history. The "ties" column is our Analysis. Map comparisons are in GTA 6 vs Vice City.

What's missing, and does it matter?

Reported: fans on X noted the list skips Vice City Stories and Liberty City Stories (NDTV). One reply read: "That's not even half of them."

Analysis: the Stories games were PSP/PS2 spin-offs and are harder to play today. The five he picked are the mainline numbered and 3D-era entries. For GTA 6 context, Vice City (2002) matters most, since it's the only previous visit to the city. He also skipped GTA 1, GTA 2, London and Chinatown Wars, which fans rarely include in "play them all" runs.

The GTA 6 '100%' plan

Reported (GTA BOOM, August 11): Cenat said he doesn't know when the stream will end once GTA 6 drops. He plans to keep going until it hits 100% completion, not just the story. GTA BOOM's estimate is that a true 100% run could take well over a week of near-constant play, and that breaks are inevitable. See win.gg for more coverage.

Analysis: how long GTA 6 takes to finish is unknown. See GTA 6 story length. Watching streams at launch also means spoilers, so check our spoiler survival guide.

Want to do your own catch-up?

Confirmed (Take-Two): digital pre-orders of GTA 6 include a free month of GTA+, Rockstar's subscription, which includes a games library of classic Rockstar titles (Take-Two). Which games are in the library changes over time, so check the current list before you rely on it. See our GTA+ pre-order month guide.

Analysis: if you only have time for one, play Vice City for the setting, or GTA 5 for the switching and heist structure GTA 6 builds on.

The bottom line

Kai Cenat's pre-launch run covers the five mainline 3D and HD games and skips the Stories spin-offs. After that comes an open-ended 100% GTA 6 stream. It's a good roadmap if you want to catch up yourself, as long as you dodge spoilers.
