How to Hang Out With Jason and Lucia in GTA 6: Texts, Dates and Robberies

How to meet up (step by step)
Confirmed details, arranged as a how-to:
- Text or call your partner. "You can text the other character, Jason or Lucia, at any point or you can call them," Nelson told IGN.
- Ask them to meet up. In Bloomberg's example, Jason texts Lucia, and a few minutes later the two are walking through a park holding hands (VICE).
- Pick something to do. See the activity list below.
- Answer their texts when you're apart. The other character keeps living their own routine and will check in. A quick reply is enough.

Texts, check-ins and the relationship
Confirmed (Nelson to IGN): "If you want to just spend the whole day out on your own as one of the characters, that's fine. The other one will text you: 'Hey, I'm going to go to bed to lock up, you OK?' All you need to do is respond... and that's good enough. If you don't bother to even respond it may impact your relationship a bit."
Opting out: "Could we also provide mechanisms for people to just opt out of it if they're not into it?... It's not something that we want to foist upon players," Nelson said. And: "You will always have the benefit of working together and having each other's back. Whether they're romantically close or not doesn't change that."
Why Rockstar built it: Nelson recalled team members arguing, "This is a game about a couple. They have to be a couple" (VICE, via Bloomberg). Gameranx has a further walkthrough of how the relationship plays.
Practical tips for day one
Analysis, based on confirmed mechanics:
- Reply to check-in texts, even with a one-word answer. Rockstar says that's "good enough".
- Mix it up. Rockstar says any time spent together has a positive effect, so pick what you enjoy, from mini golf to a robbery.
- Switching characters keeps both lives going. See character switching.
- Don't expect romance-game dialogue trees. Nelson says intimacy has to be "done right" and is still being iterated on, so physical intimacy details are not confirmed.
