How the Criminal Profile works
Confirmed (Rockstar demo via IGN):
- It runs separately from the wanted level and changes based on how you behave in the world.
- IGN describes it as an upgraded, more nuanced take on Red Dead Redemption 2's Honor system.
- Proportionate is fine: responding in proportion to a situation, like a shootout during a robbery, doesn't count against you.
- Escalation counts: needlessly escalating a situation changes your profile.
- Small acts: throwing trash in a bin and feeding animals appeared to help in the demo.
Nelson: "There isn't a right or wrong way to play this game, but consistent actions may have an impact in terms of how the world reacts to you and how the narrative plays out."
How the relationship system works
Confirmed (via IGN): spending time together as a couple strengthens their bond. That includes texting, holding hands, shopping and holding doors. Being the "perfect couple" gives no gameplay benefit, and engaging with it is optional.
Nelson: "They will remain partners in crime... whether they're romantically close or not doesn't change that... Whether you've nurtured the relationship or not will definitely have a bearing on how their story plays out."
The break-up question (conflicting wording): IGN says you can't dump your partner. GameSpot says you "can have them break up and just be friends." Both agree they stay partners in crime. Whether a formal romantic break-up is possible is Unclear.
Safehouses are more like RDR2's camps
Confirmed (Nelson via IGN): the safehouses are "closer to the camps in RDR2" than to earlier GTA safehouses. IGN also notes L2 lets you talk to or taunt NPCs out in the world.
