Current status

  • Current status: Details come from IGN's full interview with Rob Nelson, published October 7, recorded in July.
  • Last verified: October 22, 2026.
  • Sources checked: GTAVice.net, VICE, The Leonida (summaries of IGN's full text).
  • What is confirmed: the Nelson quotes below. The app name "Ryde Me" comes from IGN's notes, not Rockstar.
  • What is not confirmed yet: a skip option, costs, and whether other fast-travel methods exist.

Ride-share as fast travel

Reported, Nelson quote (via GTAVice.net):

"We can ride all the way with this passenger and chat with them. It's a good way to do fast travel."

Reported (VICE's summary): "Riding in a taxi can include full conversations with other people traveling with you."

Analysis: the wording suggests you can choose to sit through the ride and listen, as GTA 5 let you watch a taxi ride or skip it. Whether GTA 6 has a skip button hasn't been said.

Let your partner drive

Reported (VICE, Insider Gaming, via The Leonida): when Jason and Lucia are together, you can hand the wheel to your AI partner and sit back with the radio, or shoot from the passenger seat during a chase.

Reported, Nelson quote: "The partner can drive pretty well, so you can often have the partner drive to get you away from the cops."

Reported: your partner may also suggest detours, like the police impound job Jason pointed out in IGN's demo. See character switching.

Quick waypoints and Focus

Reported, Nelson quote (via GTAVice.net): "There's a quick way to set waypoints: holding down on the D-Pad." How it picks a destination wasn't explained.

Reported (The Leonida, from IGN's full text): Nelson showed a mode called Focus, "very similar to 'Eagle Eye' in Red Dead Redemption 2," that helps you find things, including cops. Only one summary we checked mentions it, so treat it as less certain.

Analysis: with a map Rockstar says is twice GTA 5's, quick navigation tools will get heavy use.
