- Last verified: October 21, 2026.

What the post actually says
Rumor. The full post, as quoted by NME:
"Daft Punk's management (yes, still exist) were pitched 'a final comeback' of the duo for the GTAVI soundtrack with what was 'essentially an unlimited budget'. Justice were Rockstar's second choice."
When users doubted it, the account replied that it had "leaked Daft Punk and Justice news for 10+ years" (NME). Complex notes the account is the sole source and isn't popular with Daft Punk fans. GTA BOOM says it has made accurate calls before.
Daft Punk's real link to GTA 6
Confirmed (album credits, per Complex and GTA BOOM): Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, one half of Daft Punk, produced Travis Scott's track "RHYNO" on GTA 6: The Album. That's an individual credit, not a reunion.
Reported: Daft Punk split in 2021 (Complex).
Why the rumor spread
Analysis:
- Justice and Daft Punk are both French electronic duos tied to the same scene, so the "first choice" story is easy to believe.
- Headlines changed "pitched" into "turned down." EDM.com calls the claim unfounded.
- Without a document, a named source or an on-record denial, there's nothing to check it against.
Confirmed vs rumored: Daft Punk and GTA 6

The bottom line
Treat the Daft Punk story as an unverified rumor. The confirmed part is the music you'll actually hear: Justice's score and a 34-track album.
