On this page
Current status
- Current status: CERO Z shown on Japanese storefronts since about October 17, 2026.
- Last verified: October 23, 2026 (JP PS Store price checked directly).
- Sources checked: Game*Spark, RCG, PlayStation Store Japan, PR Times, CERO.
- What is confirmed: Japanese PS Store pricing; launch on November 19, 2026.
- What is not confirmed yet: any Japan-specific edits, and whether CERO will publish a fuller content description.
What CERO Z means
Confirmed (CERO): CERO Z is Japan's highest rating, for titles that can only be sold to people 18 and over (CERO). Unlike CERO's lower age categories, which are guidance, Z is a sales restriction that retailers enforce.
Reported (RCG): both the Japanese PS Store and Microsoft Store pages note that CERO Z games can only be bought with a credit card, which works as an age check.
For the ESRB, PEGI and other ratings, see our GTA 6 age rating guide.
Will the Japanese version be cut?
Reported (RCG, citing Game*Spark): GTA V's Japanese release was also rated CERO Z but still had its sexual scenes altered and some of its more graphic violence removed.
Not confirmed: whether GTA 6 gets similar changes. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two's Japanese arm has said anything about Japan-specific edits.
Reported (Game*Spark): overseas ratings flag blood and gore, intense violence and strong sexual content, and Australian and New Zealand listings mention sex scenes. Game*Spark says how those scenes are handled will decide whether, and how much, the Japanese version changes.
