- Current status: No GTA 6 console bundle from Sony. A Japan-only Midnight Black PS5 is dated for November 19.
- Last verified: October 21, 2026.
- Sources checked: Metro (reporting the PlayStation Blog post), our earlier bundle coverage.
- What is confirmed: the Midnight Black PS5's date, price and region lock, and the GTA 6 DualSense controllers.
- What is not confirmed yet: any GTA 6 bundle, in any region.
The Midnight Black PS5
Confirmed (PlayStation Blog, as reported by Metro):
| Item | Price | Release |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 Digital Edition, Midnight Black (Japan only) | 55,000 yen | November 19, 2026 |
| Midnight Black disc drive | 11,980 yen | November 19, 2026 |
Reported (Metro): the console is region-locked to Japanese PSN accounts. Sony first launched a Japan-only PS5 in November 2025, and PlayStation CEO Hideaki Nishino said it was meant to stop consoles being exported abroad. It doesn't include GTA 6.
Why there's no GTA 6 bundle (yet)
Reported (Metro): Sony hasn't announced a GTA 6 bundle, and Metro calls that odd given the game's PlayStation marketing. Metro suggests Sony may be worried about stock because of the component crunch, but that's Metro's guess.
Analysis: a late bundle is still possible. GTA 5 got a $399.99 PS4 bundle in 2014, as GTA6 Life notes, so there's precedent. Our bundles guide tracks retailer packs, which aren't the same as an official Sony bundle.
If you need a console for GTA 6
Analysis:
- Outside Japan, the Midnight Black PS5 isn't an option because of the region lock.
- Buy the console and game separately if you need one now. Retailer "bundles" are just both items together.
- PS5 vs PS5 Pro: see our PS5 Pro guide.
- Sony also said in the same blog post that PlayStation games released from January 2028 will be digital-only (Metro). GTA 6 is already code-in-a-box, so that doesn't change anything here.
