- What is confirmed: the tribunal is taking place in Glasgow, and each side's public position.
- What is not confirmed yet: the judgment and its date. Reported numbers of dismissed workers also vary between outlets (see below).
What the case is about
Reported. The BBC describes a hearing before Judge Lucy Wiseman in Glasgow. Former employees, most of them from Rockstar North in Edinburgh, say they were dismissed for trade union activity. Rockstar says they were dismissed for "sharing confidential company information" in an insecure private online forum.
| Side | Position | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Former workers / IWGB | Dismissed for organising a union. "Union busting" | BBC, The Independent |
| Rockstar | Dismissed for sharing confidential information about the game | BBC |
The BBC (October 15) reports that sacked workers and union members protested outside the Glasgow tribunal building. HR vice president Rob Spampinato testified that employees had been "commenting on the delay of the game" and the "timings of the game release" on Discord, and the tribunal also discussed posts about overtime. Claimants' lawyers asked why some employees who were not active union members, but shared similar posts, were not dismissed. The BBC said Jennifer Kolbe was expected to be questioned later. The Independent has also covered the hearing (see the timeline below).
Timeline: why it now ends in November
Reported:
- Late 2025: Rockstar dismisses a group of UK staff, "almost a year ago" according to the BBC. Accounts give different numbers. The BBC refers to 34 workers dismissed and 23 claimants represented by the IWGB, while Vertical Slice describes 31 fired union members.
- October 2026: The hearing runs in Glasgow. It was expected to finish around mid-October.
- Change: According to Vertical Slice, closing submissions moved to November 17–18 after Rockstar asked for more cross-examination time.
- Judgment: Not scheduled publicly. UK tribunals often issue written judgments weeks after a hearing (Analysis).
The Independent has covered further days of testimony under headlines including "Rockstar denies keeping tabs on staff union membership, tribunal told" (report) and "Rockstar Games president Houser did not 'scream' at anyone, tribunal told" (report). Those are Rockstar's denials as reported, not findings.
Does it affect GTA 6's launch?
Analysis: No source links the tribunal to the release schedule. Rockstar has confirmed November 19 repeatedly, most recently with the launch trailer. The tribunal matters for the industry's labour story and for Rockstar's reputation. For background on development pressure, see our Bloomberg making-of summary and delay timeline.

The bottom line
The Rockstar tribunal will now hear closing arguments on November 17–18, the two days before GTA 6 launches. A judgment will follow later. The BBC expects the hearing to finish by release. It's a serious labour case, but it isn't a launch risk. Every key date this month is on our final-month calendar.
