Current status

  • Current status: PS5 Remote Play support is listed on the official PlayStation game page. Xbox Cloud streaming at launch is reported, with limits.
  • Last verified: October 23, 2026 (PlayStation page checked directly).
  • Sources checked: PlayStation.com, PlayStation Support, The Verge, NDTV Profit.
  • What is confirmed: Remote Play support on PS5; launch on November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
  • What is not confirmed yet: PS Portal cloud streaming for GTA 6; exact Xbox Cloud availability on launch day.

PS Portal and PS Remote Play

Confirmed (PlayStation): the GTA VI page lists Remote Play supported, alongside vibration and trigger-effect support, PS5 Pro Enhanced and Tempest 3D Audio.

Confirmed (PlayStation Support): PS Portal's main mode is Remote Play: it streams games running on your own PS5 over Wi-Fi. Your PS5 does the work, so GTA 6 runs exactly as it would on the TV, then streams to the handheld.

What you need:

  • A PS5 with GTA 6 installed, signed in to the same account as your PS Portal.
  • A fast, stable home network. PlayStation Support lists connection requirements on the page linked above.

Not confirmed: PS Portal can also stream some games from Sony's cloud for PlayStation Plus Premium members (PlayStation Support). There's no word that GTA 6 will be in that catalog.

Xbox Cloud Gaming

Reported (The Verge, October 6): Microsoft has streaming rights for GTA 6 at launch, but not exclusively. Xbox strategy chief Matthew Ball said GTA 6 won't stream to PC, which points to Xbox consoles as the streaming target.

Reported (The Verge, NDTV Profit): from November, Game Pass cloud play is capped by tier: 15 hours on Ultimate, 10 hours on Premium, and 5 hours on Essential, with a pay-as-you-go option for more time.

Analysis: GTA 6 is not on Game Pass (see is GTA 6 on Game Pass?). Cloud play would mean streaming a copy you own. With caps of 5–15 hours a month, cloud looks like a backup rather than the main way to play a big open-world game.

Confirmed vs rumored: GTA 6 streaming

The bottom line

If you have a PS5 and a PS Portal, you're set: Remote Play is officially listed. Xbox players reportedly get launch streaming rights on Xbox Cloud, but reported monthly caps make it a backup option, and Xbox says there's no PC streaming. PC players still have no GTA 6 at all; see our PC release date guide.
