How to Cancel a GTA 6 Pre-Order (and Why the November 12 Preload Matters)

Sony warns: "downloads will happen automatically if Automatic Downloads are enabled in your system settings." Microsoft Store (Xbox digital)
Confirmed (Microsoft Support):
- Billing: with a card, Microsoft "may charge you up to 10 days before the release date". With Microsoft account balance, it charges right away.
- Cancel: sign in to account.microsoft.com/orders, find the pre-order in Order history, select Cancel and follow the steps.
- After billing: "If you cancel a pre-order after it's billed but before it's released, we'll process it as a refund."
Physical copies and retailers
Confirmed (PlayStation, for physical items it sells directly): a physical pre-order can be cancelled "at any time before it enters the shipping process", which is "generally possible until approximately 8 days before the scheduled release date". Physical items also have a 30-day return window, but a boxed game with a broken seal can't be returned unless faulty.
Confirmed (Take-Two): the GTA 6 physical box contains a download code and is available November 12 (Take-Two). Retailers like Amazon, GameStop and Walmart set their own cancellation rules, so check your order page. Retailer options are in our Amazon pre-order guide.
