StreetInsider reported shares up about 3.9% to $209.04 in mid-day trading on October 15, after a roughly 5% drop on October 13. That move came on reports of a possible PC window and worries about leaks.

Unit and revenue estimates

Reported (analyst and research-firm estimates):

  • Wells Fargo: about 50M units at a $90 average gross price, versus about 33M units at $80 that it says is implied by Take-Two's outlook. It doesn't expect Take-Two to share pre-order data before launch (Benzinga).
  • Newzoo: projects $3.25B to $5.2B in first-week revenue, based on early pre-order data (Fortune).
  • Take-Two guidance: FY27 net bookings of $8.0B to $8.2B (as summarised by Benzinga). Check the company's own releases for exact wording.

Analysis: the gap between "implied by guidance" and analyst models is why the November 9 call matters. See how much money GTA 6 will make.

The budget question

Reported: StreetInsider says Citi's analyst read Jennifer Kolbe's Bloomberg comments as indicating GTA 6 did not cost "more than $1.5 billion" to produce. Comparing that with $2.4B of capitalised software and development costs on Take-Two's balance sheet, Citi estimates about $900M is unrelated to GTA 6, which it reads as a hint of another major release in 2027–28. That's Citi's interpretation. Fortune separately notes that Take-Two has never disclosed the cost, and cites a third-party ranking estimating about $2B including marketing. No official budget exists.
