The county fight
Reported (Miami Herald; Rockstar Report citing the Herald):
- Commissioner Juan Carlos Bermudez, Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz and the county's Association of Chiefs of Police have all opposed tying county property to the game.
- The county presentation included Vice City branding ideas such as a MIA gate and replica manholes (Miami Herald). Mayor Levine Cava signed off on September 10.
- The item was set for October 6. Commissioner Oliver Gilbert moved the vote to October 20.
- The mayor can approve contracts under $1 million without the board. Bigger deals need commission approval.

Rockstar's Miami takeover is real, but the public-property pieces depend on votes and contracts. None of it touches the November 19 date. Watch October 20. The real-world city: what city GTA 6 is based on.

Frequently asked questions
- Is Miami really becoming Vice City for GTA 6?
- Partly. The Kaseya Center sign is up and Wynwood Walls has GTA 6 murals. County branding at the airport and port depends on an October 20 commission vote.
- Why are Miami-Dade officials against the GTA 6 deal?
- Critics, including a commissioner and the county sheriff, object to linking public property with a game known for violence against police and pedestrians.
- Did Rockstar fly the NINE1NINE banners over Miami Beach?
- Unconfirmed. Reports say nobody has confirmed who is behind the flights.
- Will the Miami ad fight delay GTA 6?
- No. These are local advertising deals and don't affect the November 19 release.
