Why people thought it might miss out
Analysis. GameSpot notes the cutoff is traditionally the Friday before Thanksgiving: November 21 in 2025 and November 22 in 2024. Thanksgiving falls on November 26 this year, so November 20 was always the likely date.
Reported: jurors vote soon after launch. Rockstar Intel points out last year's nominees were announced on November 4. A similar timeline would leave little time to play GTA 6 unless review copies arrive early. See our review embargo explainer.

Confirmed history (via GameSpot): Red Dead Redemption 2 earned 10 nominations at The Game Awards 2018 and won four. Game of the Year went to God of War.
