GTA 6 Early Download Scams: How to Spot Fake 'Early Access' Before Launch

How the scams work

Red flags checklist
Analysis, based on the reports above:
- "Play before November 19." Not possible. Preload only downloads files, and the game unlocks at launch.
- "PC download" or "PC early access". No PC version is announced (see PC status).
- Payment in crypto or gift cards, or a "$GTAVI" token. Rockstar doesn't sell the game that way.
- An .exe "installer" from any website. Console games come from PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store or a retail box with a code.
- "Code generators" or "free key" sites that ask you to log in.
- Regional store lookalikes. Kaspersky describes a fake Brazilian PlayStation Store page. Always type store addresses yourself.
If you already downloaded something
Practical steps (general security guidance consistent with the Malwarebytes and Kaspersky advice):
- Disconnect the device from the internet and run a full scan with up-to-date security software.
- From a different, clean device, change passwords, starting with email, PlayStation Network, Microsoft/Xbox, Rockstar Social Club, banking and crypto wallets.
- Sign out of all sessions on those accounts. Infostealers like Vidar take session cookies, which can bypass passwords until those sessions are revoked.
- Turn on two-factor authentication everywhere.
- If you paid, contact your bank or card issuer straight away.

Confirmed (Take-Two): pre-orders are open for $79.99 (Standard) and $99.99 (Ultimate) on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Digital pre-orders preload from November 12. The bottom line
There is no early GTA 6 download outside the official November 12 preload, and there's no PC version. Anything else is a scam. Buy only from official stores or real retailers, and never run a "GTA 6 installer".
