What Rockstar has said

Confirmed. Rockstar's August 26 statement said having gameplay leak "has been heartbreaking for our team," apologized that "everything has taken as long as it has," and asked fans to wait for November 19.

Reported. In Bloomberg's October feature, art director Aaron Garbut described leaks as feeling like "somebody's wading through your dirty washing" (GamesRadar). More in our Bloomberg report breakdown.

Claims that remain unverified

  • A "200GB playable build" — Rumor. No outlet has authenticated it.
  • Explicit character clips — Rumor; PlanetGTA6 labels them unconfirmed and the model's authenticity is disputed.
  • "Full game download" links — Scam risk. Treat any as malware.

Analysis: the token-watermark pattern means every new "leak" doubles as an advertisement — a reason for extra skepticism. Our leak-judging guide explains how to vet them.

The bottom line

The August leaks were real; the full-build threat was a crypto pitch that didn't pay off. The release date hasn't moved. For the bigger picture, see the leak timeline.
