Current status

  • Current status: 30fps stated by Rockstar in an interview. No official spec sheet.
  • Last verified: October 15, 2026.
  • Sources checked: GamesRadar; Digital Foundry; Push Square; PlayStation.
  • What is confirmed: 30fps on base PS5 and Series X, and a "PS5 Pro Enhanced" label.
  • What is not confirmed yet: PS5 Pro and Series S frame rates, and any later performance mode.

What Rockstar said

Reported (Rob Nelson to Flow Games, via GamesRadar and Push Square): GTA 6 runs at 30fps on PS5 and Xbox Series X. A performance mode likely won't be there at launch, and options may come later. Digital Foundry adds that Nelson said he'd need to check with the tech team about 60fps.

What Digital Foundry found

Analysis (Digital Foundry, Richard Leadbetter):

  • Locked 30fps: 48,242 frames of footage analyzed, locked at 30fps.
  • Resolution: native output around 2560x1440.
  • Ray tracing: ray-traced reflections and global illumination, which helps explain the 30fps target.
  • PS5 Pro: its CPU runs at 3.85GHz vs 3.5GHz on base PS5, roughly 7% faster in CPU-limited tests. DF sees a 40fps mode as possible but 60fps as unlikely, calling GTA 6 a "30fps-first" design.
  • Series S: not shown yet.

PlayStation's store page lists GTA 6 as PS5 Pro Enhanced (PlayStation), but doesn't say whether that means a higher frame rate or just better image quality.
